Many of the films screened at the Stony Brook Film Festival are "in competition." Films in competion are competing for Audience Choice and Festival Jury awards in Feature Length and Short Film categories. Competition films are marked accordingly in the brochure, and ballots will be distributed at the screenings. At the Stony Brook Film Festival we take pride in the quality of films shown, whether they are in competition or not.
All films are carefully selected, and their screening date and time carefully chosen to make the festival an enjoyable experience for filmmakers and audience members.
The 2005 Festival will include 15 features and 14 shorts "in competition."
Both a film jury and the audience will choose the winning
films to be announced at the Closing Night Awards Reception on
Saturday evening, July 30. Feature films in competition include:
When Night Falls; Steal Me; The Godfather of Green Bay;
My Girl; Smile; My Tiny Universe; Alice in Glamourland;
At Last; Jesus, Mary & Joey; Rancid; Amazons; In My
Father's Den; Wilby Wonderful; Forgiveness; and
Loggerheads. All shorts are in competition and precede the features
as outlined in the schedule. Most of these films will be
World, North American, U.S., East Coast or New York premieres
and many of the filmmakers will be on hand with cast and crew to
introduce their films and answer questions following their screenings.
Make sure you cast your ballots at each screening and help
us choose the 2005 Festival winners!
