This documentary explores the extraordinary research career of Dr. Irving Langmuir at General Electric Co. in Schenectady, NY that yielded discoveries of the gas-filled incandescent light bulb, atomic hydrogen welding, a theory of atomic structure, surface films, smoke screen generation, cloud seeding, hiking and advancing environmental causes. The film includes scenes of famous colleagues: Edison, Einstein, Bohr, Rutherford, Curie, et al., an interview with novelist Kurt Vonnegut, and original footage of Charles Lindbergh.
