Written and directed by Lukas Moodysson. Produced by Lars Jonsson. An ensemble group of socialists living together commune-style on the eve of Franco’s death in 1975 Sweden watch their world take a sudden turn when a battered housewife and her two children take refuge in their already overcrowded house. The lives of these young, Swedish adults collapse in Moodysson’s rich and interweaved script. Beginning with simple fights about dirty dishes, clothing-optional rules and the children’s complaining about no television and vegetable-only diets, the group’s free-loving attempts at harmonious living steadily and humorously fall to pieces. A wickedly delightful look at changing times and changing people. (In Swedish with English subtitles).
