Following the horror of the 1994 genocide in Rwanda the country is stained with the blood of close to a million Tutsis. French-Canadian documentary filmmaker and journalist, Bernard Valcourt, returns to the capital city of Kigali in search of his beautiful Tutsi wife, Gentille, from whom he was separated by the militia. As Bernard, a man divided by hope and disillusionment, uncovers the consequences of the violence amidst the chaos surrounding him, the love story between him and Gentille unfolds in flashbacks.
