Steel Toes

Sunday, July 22, 7:00 pm
N.Y. Premiere—Canada—90 minutes
Directed by David Gow and Mark Adam.
Written by David Gow.
With David Strathairn and Andrew W.Walker

Academy-Award nominated David Strathairn portrays Daniel Dunkleman, a Jewish liberal humanist and the court-appointed lawyer representing Mike Downey (Andrew Walker) a Neo- Nazi Skinhead on trial for the racially motivated murder of an East Indian immigrant. Steel Toes takes us into the intense and fiery relationship that develops between these two men as they explore their emotional and intellectual differences.

David Gow’s provocative exploration of the insidious presence of racial and religious intolerance in our society hits true notes throughout the taut dramatic film. The city of Montréal is the backdrop and the key setting is the St. Vincent de Paul Penitentiary. Produced by Francine Allaire and David Gow. Director of Photography: Mark Adam.
