A switchboard
operator for twenty years, Rejeanne
loses her job when the multinational company she works for announces massive
layoffs while the company president collects his annual $13 million salary.
Soon after, Rejeanne’s
husband, Gilles, suffers a stroke, leaving him an invalid. Despite Rejeanne’s
love and devotion, Gilles retreats into himself and falls into a deep
