In Montreal’s Mile End, Adam Levy, a Jewish teenager, meets Yasmine Gibran, a Lebanese girl. Adam fears that his orthodox Rabbi grandfather will stop at nothing to end his relationship with “the Arab girl” and the renewed conflict in the Middle East feels closer to home. A coming-of-age story about a 74-year-old woman who reluctantly enters a retirement community after her husband’s death. She struggles to find her niche within the eccentric residents’ social hierarchy, just like the new girl in school.
