CLOSING NIGHT:

THE LITTLE TRAITOR

New York Premiere—U.S.A./Israel—89 minutes

Directed by Lynn Roth. Screenplay by Lynn Roth, based on the novel Panther in the Basement by Amos Oz. With Alfred Molina, Ido Port, Rami Hoebreger, Gilya Stern and Theodore Bikel.

The Little Traitor takes place in Palestine in 1947, just a few months before Israel becomes a state. Proffy is a militant yet sensitive eleven year old who, like so many others, wants the occupying British to leave. A British soldier, Sergeant Dunlop (Alfred Molina), finds Proffy out after curfew and an impossible friendship develops. As the story unfolds, Proffy learns about himself, his friends, and his family, and that it is possible to have genuine affection for the enemy. A charming film with elements of history, hope and humanity. Produced by Eitan Evan and Lynn Roth. Director of Photography: Amnon Zalait. A Regent Releasing Film.
