The
17th Stony Brook Film Festival once again celebrates the best in independent
film with ten days of screenings at Staller Center for the Arts at Stony Brook
University. We invite you to see a selection of the world’s best and newest
Independent, art and foreign films.
Whether you enjoy foreign language films, American Independents or shorts from
around the globe, you’re in for an unforgettable experience when you see the
myriad of films assembled for the
2012
festival. We have an exciting World Premiere for Opening Night on July 19 – NO
GOD NO MASTER, an American film steeped in history, starring David Strathairn,
and a poignant French comedy for Closing Night on July 28 – THE DAY I SAW YOUR
HEART, starring Melanie Laurent. Our Spotlight Showcase film this year is a
charming and fresh comedy, SHANGHAI CALLING, featuring an international cast, on
Saturday, July 21. These films, along with many others this year, feature
powerful and growing voices in film and will have directors, actors and crew
members at the festival to represent their films.
Our
international slate of features and shorts will take you throughout the U.S. and
to countries including Argentina, Canada, France, Germany, Israel, Palestine,
Belgium, China, United Kingdom, Mexico, The Netherlands and Spain.
We
have once again kept our FILM PASS price at an incredibly low $80, the absolute
best way to attend the festival.
We
are offering a limited number of GOLD PASSES once again this year. This pass
allows patrons to sit in the Reserved Section of the theatre along with
filmmakers and guests and includes a ticket to
the
Opening & Closing Night Receptions.
Join
us and meet directors, actors, as well as rising stars in the film world as they
answer questions following many of the screenings. Mingle with them and fellow
filmgoers at the opening and closing night parties for an additional charge
(those go fast, buy them early as they are limited).
Don’t
miss out on Long Island’s premier annual summer arts event. The 17th Annual
Stony Brook Film Festival from July 19-28 will be 10 film-packed days to
remember!
See you at the
movies!
